- New Dialing Directory for viewing and managing the phone book.
- Connection dialog to set the name of service, phone number, data rate and other items. Account and password strings can be used in a script.
- Very basic scripting capability; there is more work to do here.
- When you connect to a service thru the dialer, it will try to run a script file. It looks in the ZTerm folder for a file with the same name as the service with a ".zts" on the end.
- Print Selection now works thru the normal printing mechanism (more compatible), and has font, size and margin selection.
- Append selection to a file (Cmd-N) and Append to last append file (Cmd-Shift-N).
- Select All and easier extend selection.
- Connect thru any serial port registered with the Comm Toolbox.
- Modem settings now includes a "DeInitialize" string sent when you quit.
- Dial substitution strings (•1, •2, •3) where you can put things like call waiting cancel or long distance access codes. For example, you could put •1 in front of all the phone numbers, then you can change the string for •1 to "9," or "*70," etc.
- You can have multiple macro sets and each macro also has a label which appears in the new Macro menu.
- Added option to use the Command key as a Control key or a Meta key.
- When a connection is made, it will look for a sound called 'connect' and play it if present. Likewise, if there is a sound called 'filedone', it will be played when a file transfer completes. When the BEL character is received, it will play the 'termbell' sound if present.
- Added Save Lines off Top item in the Edit menu, so you can disable saving data to the scroll buffer if you don't need it.
- Balloon help for menus.
- Online timer, automatically resets when you connect.
- Page Up/Dn, Home & End will scroll the buffer. (Hold down Shift if the vt100 keypad option is on.)
- ZTerm will use the carrier rate (from the CONNECT message) when calculating transfer efficiency, instead of the DTE rate. This currently only works when the rate is given as a number in the CONNECT message. For example, if you connect to your modem at 38400, but the modem says CONNECT 9600, it will base the efficiency calculations on 9600.
Fixes.
- Fixed some problems in the vt100 emulation, especially scroll regions.
- Data is now saved to the capture buffer on CompuServe when your CompuServe settings say you are a vt100.
- Fixed a problem with CompuServe QuickB uploads and upgraded the protocol to the B-Plus specs.
- Changed the way ZModem resume works to fix some problems. A partial file will now have a • (bullet) at the end of the file name, instead of a special icon.
WHAT IS ZTERM 1.00 ?
Some of you may be wondering why 0.9 is now coming out, when you have seen or are using ZTerm 1.00. This is not something I released. It is a hack that someone did in ResEdit, mainly just changing some of the menus. If its not on Compuserve (MacComm forum), GEnie or AOL (Comm and Networking forum), then it is not an official release.
WHY DID THIS UPDATE TAKE SO LONG?
I don't know; probably many causes. I'm spending more time using ZTerm (to support it, etc), than working on it. Some of the things were major changes that could not be released until they were complete. In 20-20 hindsight, I should have released something earlier, at least to fix some of the more annoying problems. I certainly don't plan on it being another two years before the next release.
